Passing Items On For Renewed Enjoyment.
Making Sure No One Goes Hungry.
We worked in the back pack room from 8 a.m. until noon. In this room alone there were 180 volunteers. With all of us working together, we assembled 54 pallets, which constitute 6,480 back packs.
A back pack consists of a bag of cereal, a milk box, a juice box, 2 cans of vegetables, 2 cans of fruit, a can of pasta, a jar of peanut butter, two snacks, and depending on the order a toothbrush and a tube of tooth paste. These back packs are given on Fridays to elementary children on a food program. This back pack sometimes represents the only food a child will eat over the weekend.
